Hurricane season enters its final month Saturday, and it looks like the Georgia coast and Bulloch County will go another year without a storm doing serious damage.

A man whose truck was repossessed Oct. 15 fired shots at the repo man, then chased him down and took the truck back. But then sheriff's deputies chased the offender down and arrested him at gunpoint, according to reports.
A man Portal Police said shoplifted wine was wanted on more serious charges, including motor vehicle theft.

A local man has filed a complaint with Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel's office, citing improper behavior regarding solicitation of votes at a local nursing home.
A Statesboro man was arraigned Thursday on federal bank fraud charges, according to an indictment filed Oct. 9 by the U.S. District Court for Southern District of Georgia, Statesboro Division.

When all the votes are counted Election Day – Nov. 4 – the turnout in Bulloch County may exceed 25,000. That's almost 6,000 more votes than were cast in the 2004 presidential election and Bulloch officials want to ensure every vote is counted accurately.

The Georgia Southern football team took the practice fields at Beautiful Eagle Creek Thursday to kick off their first fall camp after officially joining the Sun Belt Conference.
Under the direction of Statesboro Youth Ballet director Jurijs Safonovs, dance students completed two weeks of rigorous study at the Averitt Center for the Arts Summer Ballet Intensive Friday.
