Airplane enthusiasts, thrill seekers and history buffs alike will want to be at the Statesboro Municipal Airport this weekend, where the History Flight Barnstormer Tour will be offering rides in a historical World War II airplane - for a good cause.

Jean Mathews presents OTC with $100,000 in honor of her late husband

Ogeechee Technical College's 2008 record setting fundraising campaign, iGot, collected more than $313,000 for the school in March. Included in that total was a $100,000 gift by a family that had decided to remain anonymous until they decided what special project or scholarship they would fund.

Ogeechee Tech closing day care program

Ogeechee Technical College is closing its Child Enrichment Center due to concerns for children's safety on a college campus as well as financial issues. However, some parents are unhappy with the decision.

Technical college chief visits OTC

Carl Swearingen, chair of the State Board of Technical and Adult Education for Georgia, visited Ogeechee Technical College recently to address college employees, as well as local OTC Board members. Following a luncheon in Swearingen's honor, a tour of the campus was conducted to allow Swearingen to see the various programs available at Ogeechee Tech. The chairman met with a number of college administrators and faculty members one-on-one to discuss first-hand the needs of the college, and the chairman's vision for the college and the system in general.

Cawthorn named professor of the year at 2008 Honors Day

Special Michelle Cawthorn received the Wells/Warren Professor of the Year Award at the Georgia Southern University Honors Day Convocation last week. Cawthorn is an assistant professor in the Department of Biology.

BGC holds special activities week

Buddies Brandon Connely, center, and Chris Hendrix, both 7, participate in one of Wonda Jenkins' word games at the Boys & Girls Club of Bulloch County during Family Day Thursday. The club held special activities all week to highlight all the programs offered by the club. Some of the activities included Teacher's Day and an Ice Cream Social on Friday.
