WWII film to be shown Monday in honor of Veterans Day

The community is invited to celebrate the lives of veterans with a showing of Larry Cappetto's powerful World War II documentary "Lest They Be Forgotten." The film will be shown 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12 at the Emma Kelly Theater. It is free to the public and sponsored by Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory.

A St. Paul, Minnesota man was killed early Wednesday in a single vehicle crash in Candler County. A passenger from Twin City was seriously injured in the accident, according to reports.

Annual Pumpkin Parade thrills Brooklet

More than 500 students, faculty and staff dressed as characters from their favorite books and strutted their stuff during Brooklet Elementary's annual Pumpkin Parade Friday. Eleven books, including "My Teacher For President," " Baa, Baa Black Sheep," and " The Emperor and the Kite," were represented in the lineup. Members of the second grade class dressed as characters from "The Wizard of Oz." Dorothy, Toto, the Wicked Witch, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow and the Winged Monkeys were all represented by children and teachers in costume. 929 voters cast ballots during early voting

On the final day early voting for the Statesboro City Council on Friday, 199 individuals came out to cast their ballots. Annual Farm & Forest Festival Saturday

The Georgia Southern Botanical Garden will holds its annual Farm & Forest Festival and Plant Sale today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The festival allows children of all ages to see what farm life was like back in the 1920s and 1930s through arts & crafts, games and activities. Bulloch gets $288K to expand recycling program

Bulloch County was named along with Griffin, Savannah and Valdosta-Lowndes County to receive a total of $2.2 million in state grants during the 29th Annual Keep Georgia Beautiful Awards Luncheon in Atlanta. The grants come from the state's Solid Waste Trust Fund (SWTF) to implement four new regional recycling collection programs.

Statesboro woman pleads guilty in husband's death

Katrina Denise Ledford's jury selection is scheduled for Tuesday, and her trial is scheduled for July 8, in the killing of her mother's husband, Michael Anthony Riley.
