In a cost cutting move, the city of Statesboro will be closing the transfer station, or landfill, located on North Main, to the public on Saturdays.

A group of Georgia Southern University students affiliated with the Wesley Foundation were seen walking around Statesboro Friday carrying a 400-pound wooden cross. They did so to spread the message that "God has greater things to be done around this city," besides the political and other issues being discussed today. The group was also filming a video with the same message, to go along with the song "God of This City," by Chris Tomlin. The video will be shown at the Wesley Foundation on Fair Road Wednesday at 8 p.m., and all citizens are invited to attend.
In what appeared to be a surprise to even the Bulloch County School Board members, Bulloch school superintendent Dr. Lewis Holloway recommended Dr. Trey Robertson for the vacant position of Southeast Bulloch High School principal.
An important moment in Bulloch County history will be noted Saturday as local Confederate historical reenactors and members of the Ogeechee Rifle Camp 941 Sons of Confederate Veterans hold a ceremony recognizing the 100th anniversary of the installation of the Confederate monument on the Bulloch County Courthouse Square.

Tuesday evening's high winds blew the roof off of a mobile home near the intersection of Veterans Memorial Parkway and Cypress Lake Road.
