Whether shoppers are hungry for a good local book or fresh local food, the Main Street Farmers Market can satisfy both cravings on Saturdays in September. The Statesboro Friends of the Library will feature four local writers at their booth to celebrate "Authors at the Market Month." Shoppers can meet the authors from 10 to 11:30 a.m., and books will be available for sale and signing. September also serves up four local restaurants as part of "A Taste of the Boro at the Market."

A play 17 years in the making

Going backstage for Georgia Southern's production of "What Use Are Flowers?" would not offer visitors a typical rehearsal. Instead of the usual setting of actors pacing around, warming up vocal cords and rehearsing lines, they would find a serene setting that resembles something similar to a dance recital. The actors stretch and prepare their bodies not for words, but for movement.
