Cocaine sting nets 2 arrests

An undercover agent working with the Bulloch County Drug Suppression Team Tuesday bought cocaine from two men in the College Plaza parking lot. Seconds later, drug team investigators surrounded the suspects and placed them under arrest.

Atlanta Ballet Summer Intensive underway

The annual Atlanta Ballet summer Intensive Camp is underway at Georgia Southern University. Students must audition to be accepted to the Summer Intensive, and the student dancers go through a rigorous two weeks of instruction, practice and performance. Instructor Heather Conley, who is the Cobb Centre principal for the Atlanta Ballet, said the Intensive requires discipline and dedication, and she sees significant improvement in the technique and artistry of every dancer from when the Intensive begins to its conclusion.

Tuesday evening Farmers Market makes its debut

The Mainstreet Statesboro Farmers Market – Tuesday evening edition – made its debut with threatening weather, but lots of happy customers. The market will be held in the Sea Island Bank parking lot, the same location as its Saturday market, on Tuesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., focusing on meats and produce from local farmers. Expanding to twice a week will enable the market to reach a new demographic of people who live and work downtown, said Debra W. Chester, market manager for the Farmers Market.
