Ogeechee Technical College's Laura "Molly" Bickerton was selected as Georgia's technical college Student of the Year in the 37th annual Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) competition.
The Southeast Bulloch High School band performed their Spring Concert recently and for eight graduating seniors, it was the final formal performances of their high school careers. Near-capacity audiences were in attendance each night of the concert at the high school auditorium.
Lots of new college graduates head on road trips to celebrate, but not many go 2,600 miles.
School's out for summer, but school construction goes on. Whether it's the final touches of the new Statesboro High School, wing extensions at Langston Chapel and Southeast Bulloch middle schools, a new wing at Brooklet Elementary or plans being drawn up for the new Portal Middle High School, workers are continuing their tasks while the classrooms are empty.

After three arrests that shook Statesboro High School in April and May, Bulloch County Schools officials have taken steps through the summer and continuing this fall to stress to principals and teachers how they must follow reporting requirements for suspected child abuse, including sexual abuse.
The recent death of an 18-year-old Georgia Southern University student after police say he was beaten at a local bar has focused public attention on what bouncers are legally allowed to do when it comes to handling trouble.
The Georgia Southern football team took the practice fields at Beautiful Eagle Creek Thursday to kick off their first fall camp after officially joining the Sun Belt Conference.
Under the direction of Statesboro Youth Ballet director Jurijs Safonovs, dance students completed two weeks of rigorous study at the Averitt Center for the Arts Summer Ballet Intensive Friday.
