Believers Church is hosting a "Back to School Bash" Saturday, July 26, from 9-11 a.m., where the first 500 students in grades K-8 will receive a free book bag filled with school supplies. Kids had a blast scrimmaging at the British Back To School soccer camp Tuesday at Mill Creek Regional Park. Three soccer coaches from England are in Statesboro all week teaching the game they call futbol to about 50 campers. The British camp has come to Statesboro the past few years. It is run by Challenger Sports, which operates 1,800 British soccer camps yearly in the U.S. and Canada, teaching more than 90,000 children.
A man who police said huffed paint, then climbed on top of a local restaurant and threatened to jump, had been having domestic problems with a woman, according to reports.

More than 3,000 people packed Statesboro High School's Womack Field Saturday to catch the sounds of the 38th Annual East Georgia Marching Band Festival.
Over 100 participated in the 2014 Zombie Run 5K and Fun Run on Saturday, October 25 to help raise funds for local health organizations, including the Bulloch Partnership for Health, the Georgia Southern University Rural Health Research Institute, the Mercer University Center for Rural Health and Health Disparities, and the Georgia Southern University Wellness Program.
The Georgia Southern football team took the practice fields at Beautiful Eagle Creek Thursday to kick off their first fall camp after officially joining the Sun Belt Conference.
Under the direction of Statesboro Youth Ballet director Jurijs Safonovs, dance students completed two weeks of rigorous study at the Averitt Center for the Arts Summer Ballet Intensive Friday.
