Law enforcement officers found an armed robbery suspect hiding in a closet Tuesday at a Bartlett Drive home and charged him with robbing a Wal-Mart clerk at gunpoint.
Statesboro City Council voted at its last meeting to raise non-consensual towing rates from $85 to $110, citing concerns from towing companies over the drastically rising price of fuel.
Rainfall across Bulloch County Wednesday helped the row crops and hay planted by area farmers, but more rain is needed in the coming weeks, said Bulloch County Extension Agent Wes Harris.
The trial of three suspects in a double murder that occurred over two and a half years ago is tentatively set for Aug. 25, said a spokesman for Bulloch County Superior Court Judge John R. Turner's office.
There are awards, and then there are honors. Casey Woodrum, who graduated Saturday from Southeast Bulloch High School, has earned quite a few of both. However, his latest recognition puts him in elite company, indeed. Woodrum was named a National Merit Scholarship finalist.

Statesboro police are seeking a man they said robbed a victim at gunpoint on Groover Lane May 4, and hope citizens will be able to provide information leading to the suspect's arrest.

Five men suspected to be involved in hauling marijuana from Florida to sell in the Statesboro area are behind bars after Statesboro Police Department Crime Suppression Unit officers acted upon a tip about them having a shipment of drugs in town.
The Hon. William Josiah Neville reminded people Monday to remember not just the fallen soldiers from past and current wars, but to remember the "walking, living dead" who suffer mental illness related to war experiences.
