Day of Great Thanksgiving set for Boro

Fourteen years ago, members of the Old Savannah City Mission organized the first Day of Great Thanksgiving in famed Forsyth Park. The 13th annual event to feed the needy of Savannah is set for next Saturday, but this year, the mission has joined forces with the faith community and others in Bulloch County and will hold the first Day of Great Thanksgiving in Statesboro.

At William James Middle School, there are three ladies who do more than run the front office: they serve as "William James Ambassadors" to the public each day. According to Principal Mike Yawn, without Lynn Brannen, Gwen Butler and Kim Nelson running the show, the front office would quickly come to a halt.

Veterans Day 2010 - Saying thank you

Tears fell as people became emotional Thursday during the 2010 Veteran's Day Community Service program, sponsored by the American Legion Dexter Allen Post 90. The program was held at Emma Kelley Theater in the Averitt Center for the Arts. The program included patriotic music, words of honor and appreciation for veterans, and memories from those who served.

Wild chase ends in arrest

An armed Marine who was reportedly going hunting with a female friend led state troopers and sheriff's deputies on a wild chase early Thursday morning, cutting through cotton fields and switching trucks before hiding in the woods with a .270 rifle.
