A Southeast Bulloch Middle School special education teacher was fired Thursday for using a racially offensive word toward students. After a called meeting to hear the case, Bulloch County Board of Education members voted unanimously to follow recommendations to terminate Dr. Michael Kellam for violation of school system policy.

Between 50 and 60 people showed up at the public hearing held by Statesboro City Council on Tuesday evening to voice their opinions about proposed modifications to the city's alcohol ordinance.
Bulloch County is one of the largest counties in the state that still has its probate judge handling elections, and Bulloch County Probate Judge Lee DeLoach feels it's time to make a change.
On Monday evening, the Statesboro mayor and city council met with city staff to review the language of proposed alcohol ordinance changes and to discuss possible alterations to the zoning ordinances affected by the three proposed establishment categories.
