A three-hour police standoff on Mill Branch Club Road Friday afternoon ended peacefully after an armed man holding three victims hostage gave up and allowed himself to be taken into custody.
Police have arrested one suspect and are seeking others they said robbed a Gentilly Road man Sept. 27 after breaking into his home.

Longtime Statesboro resident Chester Williams, known for his incredible memory and his passion for all things Georgia Southern, passed away Tuesday at age 96.
After months of negotiations and multiple workshops by the Alcohol Control Board, the Statesboro City Council has finally taken action on proposed changes to the city's alcohol ordinance by passing a first reading of four changes to the ordinance, including the abolishment of the ACB.

Georgia Department of Transportation officials have announced that the Statesboro bypass is now officially open.
High-school homecoming pranks have escalated from simple "rolling" yards with toilet paper to spray painting vehicles, according to recent Bulloch County Sheriff's reports.
The called meeting of the Portal City Council, slated for tonight, has been canceled due to the death of council member Keith Brown, said Portal City Clerk Eva Pitts. Brown died Wednesday morning, she said.

Brooklet Mayor Joe Grooms said an advertisement announcing a town hall meeting Monday was a "prank," but assured citizens tonight's called Brooklet City Council meeting is for real.
Over 100 participated in the 2014 Zombie Run 5K and Fun Run on Saturday, October 25 to help raise funds for local health organizations, including the Bulloch Partnership for Health, the Georgia Southern University Rural Health Research Institute, the Mercer University Center for Rural Health and Health Disparities, and the Georgia Southern University Wellness Program.
The Georgia Southern football team took the practice fields at Beautiful Eagle Creek Thursday to kick off their first fall camp after officially joining the Sun Belt Conference.
Under the direction of Statesboro Youth Ballet director Jurijs Safonovs, dance students completed two weeks of rigorous study at the Averitt Center for the Arts Summer Ballet Intensive Friday.
