Claxton wins tight region battle, 21-7

CLAXTON – The Portal Panthers (0-7, 0-3 Region 3-A) came out in a new look with Octavious Rawls and Steven Cox sharing time at quarterback and running a shotgun set to spread out the opposing defense, but it could not stop Claxton from getting its second-consecutive home victory as the Tigers topped PHS 21-7 Friday night.

Jackets earn right to host region tourney

BROOKLET - The game that would determine home-field advantage for the Region 3-AA tournament was a pitcher's duel until the fourth inning, when Jamie Bohannon broke a 1-1 tie with an RBI double down the third base line that drove in Bridgett Devlin and sparked a five-run rally that put the Southeast Bulloch Lady Yellow Jackets (16-4, 13-1) up for good against the visiting Screven County Lady Gamecocks in a 6-1 SEB win Tuesday.

As the Sun Belt Conference Football Media Day gets underway today in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans - a long, long way from the Southern Conference event in the Spartanburg, S.C., Marriott - there will be many, many more questions than answers for the Georgia Southern Eagles.
