Tell us about Bulloch’s great young leaders

In 2010, the Statesboro Herald conducted its first ever search to identify 20 Bulloch County residents under the age of 40 who are making a mark with professional success and community involvement. Since then, the Herald has recognized 121 folks under 40 who help make Statesboro and Bulloch County a better place to live.

Students OK after bus accident

Three special needs students with Bulloch County Schools appear to be uninjured after a car struck the school bus taking them home Thursday afternoon, but a passenger in the vehicle that struck the bus was dead at the scene.

Statesboro soldier killed in Afghanistan

Chester McBride Jr., a Statesboro native and 2003 graduate of Statesboro High, was killed Monday along with five fellow American troops when a suicide attacker rammed an explosives-laden motorcycle into a joint NATO-Afghan patrol.

‘Prize Patrol’ comes to United Way

Each year, the United Way of Southeast Georgia conducts a capital campaign that provides funds to 19 local agencies. In fact, since 2001, the agency has raised more than $5 million to help dozens of non-profit agencies offer needed services to Bulloch County residents.

'A friend we'll never forget'

The final strains of "She Talks to Angels" faded away and Joey Fennell, executive pastor for Connections Church, approached the microphone. Addressing the devastated Aubrey family and about 800 distraught friends gathered in the sanctuary of Connections, Fennell began the almost impossible task of bringing some comfort to a still stunned and grieving community at Saturday's funeral for Jordan Aubrey.

A perfect union, however, of a personal and professional opportunity is calling Georgia Southern University's president to Augusta, so while his rooting heart may remain True Blue, he will be cheering from about 80 miles north of Statesboro.
