He's had the tough task of slashing a budget three months into the job, but also the joy of Georgia's Board of Regents approving a full engineering program for the university.

Day of Great Thanksgiving set for Boro

Fourteen years ago, members of the Old Savannah City Mission organized the first Day of Great Thanksgiving in famed Forsyth Park. The 13th annual event to feed the needy of Savannah is set for next Saturday, but this year, the mission has joined forces with the faith community and others in Bulloch County and will hold the first Day of Great Thanksgiving in Statesboro.

'Flame of Hope' at Bulloch Courthouse

Famed choir playing Boro

Steven Metrejean of Statesboro was in Chicago and Memphis last week. Sunday he was in Knoxville, Tenn., and Monday and today he's in Atlanta before finally coming home on Wednesday. But he'll be back on the road and in Florence, S.C., by Friday.

A farewell to Georgia Southern

College football Saturdays this fall will find Dr. Brooks Keel wearing blue and cheering for his beloved Eagles as they shoot for a second straight Sun Belt title. A perfect union, however, of a personal and professional opportunity is calling Georgia Southern University's president to Augusta, so while his rooting heart may remain True Blue, he will be cheering from about 80 miles north of Statesboro.
