Area residents enjoyed "Shopping by Lantern Light" Tuesday at the Main Street Farmers Market in downtown Statesboro. Between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., lanterns helped showcase some of the best local food and crafts the Bulloch County region has to offer.
The third annual Empty Bowls Project sale and chili luncheon was part of GSU's Hunger and Homelessness Week. GSU art students created and donated their hand-thrown bowls to the project. Thursday the bowls were brought to the Rotunda in front of the Russell Union and sold for $10 apiece. The bowls were filled with chili and all profits will benefit the Statesboro Food Bank.

The 2010 Bulloch County Relay for Life is more than 200 days away, but a Fall rally Thursday evening kicked off the fundraising effort. In 2009, the annual event to benefit the American Cancer Society raised more than $200,000. The 2010 Relay for life is scheduled for April 23 at the Kiwanis Ogeechee Fairgrounds.
