More than 2,000 athletes and their coaches from across Georgia came to compete this weekend in softball, bocce, cycling, golf, long distance running and walking at Mill Creek Park. Athletes began competing Friday morning.
Scott Williams of Orange County, Ca. introduced Statesboro High music students to the hammered dulcimer Wednesday. Williams was brought to Bulloch County schools by the Statesboro Arts Council and closed out the week with a performance at the Averitt Center for the Arts.

Over 100 participated in the 2014 Zombie Run 5K and Fun Run on Saturday, October 25 to help raise funds for local health organizations, including the Bulloch Partnership for Health, the Georgia Southern University Rural Health Research Institute, the Mercer University Center for Rural Health and Health Disparities, and the Georgia Southern University Wellness Program.
The Georgia Southern football team took the practice fields at Beautiful Eagle Creek Thursday to kick off their first fall camp after officially joining the Sun Belt Conference.
Under the direction of Statesboro Youth Ballet director Jurijs Safonovs, dance students completed two weeks of rigorous study at the Averitt Center for the Arts Summer Ballet Intensive Friday.
