Bulloch County public school students navigated the recent projects at Nevils Elementary, Statesboro High and Southeast Bulloch, upon their return to school Wednesday.
Georgia Southern University President Dr. Bruce Grube kicked off the annual watermelon cutting Tuesday.
A "Reading to Rover" session was held at the Statesboro Regional Library Tuesday. The session was done in conjunction with members of Pawsitive Connections, a new therapy dog group in Statesboro. The program is designed to encourage children ages six and older to read and learn about therapy dogs. The summer program will end on Tuesday, July 17, but will continue in the fall as an evening program.
Thousands made the trip to Mill Creek Regional Park Wednesday to celebrate the Fourth of July at the annual Firecracker Fest. A breeze blew over the myriad of events - a frog jumping contest, a Subway sandwich eating contest, demonstrations - that took place throughout the day. As the day came to a close, people rushed to stake claim of the best spots to watch the fireworks. Students at Sallie Zetterower Elementary School finished their last day of school for the 2006-2007 school year Friday.
