A Therapeutic Fishing Rodeo was held at Mill Creek Regional Park Thursday.
A forestry field day competition hosted by the local Georgia Forestry Commission was held Thursday on the grounds of the Bulloch County Horseman's Association facility. About 120 area students were practicing for the State Forestry Competition to be held on April 17 at George L. Smith State Park.

The club held special activities all week to highlight all the programs offered by the club. Some of the activities included Teacher's Day and an Ice Cream Social on Friday.
Statesboro Area Special Olympics was held Friday at Georgia Southern University's Track and Field complex. More than 100 children from Bulloch County schools came out to compete in the games, which featured running, jumping and even a shot put event. Statesboro will play host to the Georgia Special Olympic Games in the fall.
Brooklet Elementary School students, faculty and staff raised more than $7,000 after holding a mini-Relay for Life Friday at the school. Students walked around a make-shift track in front of the school, jumped rope and held several tug of wars.
The Statesboro-Bulloch Coucy Recreation Department hald its seventh annual Swing into Spring event Friday evening at Mill Creek Park. About 2,000 people came out to enjoy food, games, fireworks and, of course, cheer on the hundreds of youngsters who will play baseball and softball this spring.

Brooklet Elementary School celebrated success in the Accelerated Reader program by holding a "Snow Day" on Friday at the school. Three truck loads of ice were brought in and the ice was made into snow and blown out on the children. On the warm Friday, the snow quickly melted and became mud. Somehow, the kids didn't mind.
The 20th annual Georgia Southern Math Tournament was held at GSU's Hanner Fieldhouse Saturday. Middle and high school students from all over southeast Georgia attended the event.

Georgia Southern football players Raja Andrews and Chris Covington enjoyed their ride with Eagle Nation. Andrews finished his career as the Eagles' all-time leading receiver and Covington was named Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Year for 2008.

Fair Road Memorial Field behind the Honey Bowen Building was filled Saturday with pets and their owners who enjoyed the annual Pet Fun Day. Contests were held for the Longest Ears, Smallest Dog, Shortest Tail and Best Halloween Costume. There also was plenty of camaraderie among the animals and pet owners.
