The third annual Empty Bowls Project sale and chili luncheon was part of GSU's Hunger and Homelessness Week. GSU art students created and donated their hand-thrown bowls to the project. Thursday the bowls were brought to the Rotunda in front of the Russell Union and sold for $10 apiece. The bowls were filled with chili and all profits will benefit the Statesboro Food Bank.

The 2010 Bulloch County Relay for Life is more than 200 days away, but a Fall rally Thursday evening kicked off the fundraising effort. In 2009, the annual event to benefit the American Cancer Society raised more than $200,000. The 2010 Relay for life is scheduled for April 23 at the Kiwanis Ogeechee Fairgrounds. The annual $1 dollar bag sale is underway at Worn Threads, which is located in the Bulloch County Outreach Center on Denmark Street in Statesboro. Worn Threads does the $1 sale twice a year to move as much clothing as possible to make room for newer clothes. Worn Threads provides clothing to local victims of fires or other disasters and gives most of its proceeds away from sale of clothes during the year.
