$1 bag sale at Worn Threads

The annual $1 dollar bag sale is underway at Worn Threads, which is located in the Bulloch County Outreach Center on Denmark Street in Statesboro. Worn Threads does the $1 sale twice a year to move as much clothing as possible to make room for newer clothes. Worn Threads provides clothing to local victims of fires or other disasters and gives most of its proceeds away from sale of clothes during the year. In memory of GBI Inspector Johnny McGlamery

The Georgia State Patrol Honor Guard presented the colors during the dedication ceremony for the new Georgia Bureau of Investigation Region 5 Office to the memory of GBI Inspector Johnny McGlamery Wednesday. McGlamery, a native of Statesboro, retired in December of 1987 as an inspector with the GBI after serving 31 years in state law enforcement. McGlamery was a graduate of Georgia Southern University and of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy Program.

Little Eagles take over Paulson Stadium

It was the Third Annual Little Eagles Football Camp Saturday at Paulson Stadium. Coach Chris Hatcher, his staff and all the Georgia Southern football players welcomed 177 campers who participated in various drills. After the camp, players and fans headed inside the Bishop Field House for an autograph session.

Portal High School honors Chavers

Portal football teammates and cheerleaders honored the wife and family of National Guard Sgt. Brock Chavers after a ceremony preceding Thursday's scrimmage against Southeast Bulloch High. The motorcycle Patriot Guard presented a flag to Portal Middle and High School Principal Jimmy Parrish to be displayed in the school in remembrance of the fallen soldier and Portal High alumnus.

A Career Fair was held Thursday at Ogeechee Technical College. The event was sponsored by OTC, the Georgia Department of Labor and several other groups. About 23 companies actively seeking employees were on hand to meet with job seekers.
