Splash in the Boro opens Saturday, May 17 and workers are filling pools, putting out chairs and touching up the water park for its fifth season. "A Life Done Right: The Living Legacy of Erk Russell" play celebrates the enduring impact of legendary Georgia Southern University football coach Erk Russell. Based largely on oral histories that are being collected from people who were acquaintances of the late coach, the play is a collaboration between the Averitt Center and the Department of Communication Arts.
Every week during the spring, children gather at the Garden and learn some valuable life lessons. First, they plant, nurture and harvest a vegetable garden. Then, they give the vegetables they grew to the Statesboro Food Bank.
A forestry field day competition hosted by the local Georgia Forestry Commission was held Thursday on the grounds of the Bulloch County Horseman's Association facility. About 120 area students were practicing for the State Forestry Competition to be held on April 17 at George L. Smith State Park.
