A community tribute to Bulloch County residents who lost their lives in past wars brought patriotic emotion to the forefront Monday in recognition of Memorial Day.
While many people display flags on Memorial Day, Sammy Bullins went a step further. He made his own flag, adding a personal flair to reflect his beliefs.
The public is invited to a Memorial Day community observance Monday at the Emma Kelly Theater in Statesboro's Averitt Center for the Arts.

The body of a man who drowned Tuesday in the Ogeechee River was recovered Wednesday afternoon.
