Fire ignites in Portal police chief’s house

Area sees rash of church burglaries

Ten area churches were burglarized over the last two weeks, with the offenders taking microwaves, vacuum cleaners and paper towels, among other things. The items being stolen aren't what one would think burglars would bother with, but Bulloch County Chief Investigator Capt. Two women found dead in Statesboro home

Two women were found dead Wednesday morning after someone saw smoke and reported a house fire at a Harden Road residence. After Statesboro firefighters arrived at the scene around 9:45 a.m. and extinguished the flames, they discovered a woman's body and called police, said Statesboro Police Chief Stan York.
