The house on Lydia Lane was ablaze, and when the first Statesboro Fire Department truck arrived, Capt. Chris Whitehead and Firefighter Second-Class Steven Morris had no time to waste. Immediately upon arriving Tuesday night they learned a 12-year-old boy was trapped inside.

Boy, 11, injured in Lydia Lane fire

An 11-year-old boy suffered second-degree burns Tuesday night when his family's Lydia Lane home was destroyed by fire. Quick action by Statesboro firefighters likely saved the child's life, and he was flown to a burn center in Augusta, said Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner.

Meth suspect turns himself in to police

A second man sought in a methamphetamine lab case turned himself in Wednesday. Bulloch County Sheriff's Capt. Rick Rountree confirmed Thursday that Shaun Christopher Lee reported to authorities in Pembroke and was transported to the Bulloch County Jail.
