Police warn of auto break-ins

Pickup truck and large SUV owners should be especially careful, as thieves are targeting these types of vehicles in the latest round of automobile break-ins. Two more people were victimized over the weekend as offenders popped the locks on their vehicles in a local restaurant parking lot and took their valuables.

Victims claim items stolen in burglaries

More than a dozen burglary victims filed into the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office courtroom Thursday afternoon, where a vast array of plasma TVs, video game consoles, lap top computers, guns, jewelry, coins and power tools were spread out as if someone were having an estate sale.

Burglary ring busted

Five men and a woman are behind bars after Bulloch County Sheriff's investigators linked them to a rash of residential burglaries and an armed robbery, said Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson. A seventh suspect was arrested on unrelated charges after being found in the same location as the other suspects.

Buckle up, pickup trucks

Pickup truck drivers who think they don't have to wear seat belts due to a loophole in the law may find out the hard way the law has been changed. The exemption from buckling up only applies to farmers, and then only if they are participating in a farming activity.

People should be careful not to leave valuables in their vehicles, especially SUV's or pickup trucks, Statesboro Police warn. It seems thieves are targeting these kinds of vehicles during recent automobile break-ins.
