Man jailed after neighbor barks at his dogs

An intoxicated Akins Pond Road man who fired shots into the air because his neighbor barked at his dogs ended up behind bars last week and a deputy was injured in a struggle that ended when another deputy deployed a Taser to subdue the offender.

Three arrested on gun charges after argument at local lounge

Three teens and two juveniles were arrested Saturday night after an altercation at The Platinum Lounge on Proctor Street. After a verbal argument at the club, Statesboro Police found the five young men in a car with apparently stolen and illegally-owned firearms, said Statesboro Police Det. Sgt. James Winskey.

Daycare closes after child escapes

A Statesboro child care facility closed last week after a 23-month-old child was found wandering around outside the fenced area of Progressive Childcare and Learning Center. The closing follows a history of state-recorded violations by the center, including numerous fence safety infractions.

Remains identified as Statesboro man reported missing in October 2007

Crime lab tests determined human remains found Wednesday underneath a North College Street home were those of Orlando Quentin Hamilton, a black man who was 20 years old when reported missing in October 2007.

Human remains found under College St. house

Human remains were found Wednesday underneath a North College Street home after authorities received an anonymous tip. Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said a male caller dialed the Bulloch County Sheriff's Department to report finding possible human remains.
