Judge Gates Peed's home burns after being struck by lightning

A storm rumbled through the Statesboro area the night of June 17, dropping precious rain on the area but also bringing tragedy to a family. Along with the life-giving rain came a lightning bolt that set the home of Bulloch County Superior Court Judge Gates Peed on fire.

20 plead guilty in auto theft ring

One man was tried and found guilty last week of involvement in an auto theft ring that centered around Statesboro. Twenty of 23 indicted in the case plead guilty while one case was dismissed and another suspect was given a pretrial diversion.

Two plead guilty in Futch hearing

Two of three people accused of killing a Bulloch County couple in 2005 changed their original pleas to "guilty" Friday, admitting in court they were responsible for the stabbing deaths of Jack and Paula Futch.
