A man caught stealing an air conditioner and other items was charged with aggravated assault after he pulled a screwdriver on a witness and the homeowner, but from his Bulloch County Jail mug shot, it appears the victims also threw a few punches.

Police investigating robbery

Statesboro Police are investigating a home invasion armed robbery that took place tonight around 6 p.m. at Stadium Walk Apartments. GBI identifies gunman in police shooting

On July 29, a little more than two months ago, the Taliban ambushed a convoy Max Sacks was traveling with. After helping get his crew to safety, he died from his injuries.

Time for Turpentine Festival

The Portal Heritage Society will be cooking turpentine this year at the 29th Annual Catface Country Turpentine Festival, thanks to a group who helped secure pine tar, an increasingly rare commodity that is essential in distilling turpentine. The tar was procured from a location in Mexico, said Portal Heritage Society member Jerry Lanigan.
