Fundraiser hits the target for the Averitt

Forty-five shooters, including teens, adults and teams, gathered to participate in the eighth annual Cultural Clays shooting tournament on March 4 at BayGall Sporting Clays. The event is a fundraiser for the Averitt Center for the Arts.

Celebrating 16 years

Mr. and Mrs. Carlise Porter celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary on March 10. The couple married on March 10, 2001, at Whitesville Full Gospel Church. They have eight children: Annette Kennedy, Bobby Roberson, Brenda Johnson, Aretha Roberson, Bernita White and Carl Porter, all of Statesboro; Jacqueline Vickers of Pearson, Georgia; and Thea Porter of Hinesville; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Putting God first, the couple enjoys spending time together.
