Statesboro to remain in class AAAA

When the 2010-11 athletic season rolls around, Statesboro will once again be competing in the AAAA classification of the GHSA.

Statesboro, which was set to be reclassified into AAA, filed the necessary paperwork to play up in the quad-A classification next season Wednesday afternoon.

The origin of Thanksgiving

The first recorded Thanksgiving celebration in North America soil was held on Sept. 8, 1565 in Saint Augustine, Fla., after 600 Spanish settlers set foot in the New World for the first time. Led by Pedro Menendez de Aviles, the settlers built a little village, which would eventually become the city of Saint Augustine.

The first guest on Wednesday's "Mornings unPHILtered" show was Chad Avret, the operations division manager for the Statesboro-Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department. Avret and his staff operate eight parks encompassing more than 213 acres. The department also oversees 28 buildings at the parks.
