Bulloch Academy's Arne Bencker, top, ...

Junior forward Addie Reddick provided the sweet shot for the Bulloch Academy girls’ team while sophomore center Paul Son added the muscle for the Gator guys as they led their respective squads to important wins over Region 2-AA foe Edmund Burke Academy Friday night.
One night after she scored 17 points in a losing effort in Lyons, Reddick came back with a 15-point performance to lead the Lady Gators to a 48-26 victory.
Reddick found the mark from the 8 to 12 foot mark and even added a 3-pointer as the Bulloch girls improved to 11-9 on the season and 4-1 in region play.
Senior guard Abi Foy scored the first five points of the night to lead Bulloch to an 11-2 lead at the end of the opening quarter. Foy had nine points.
The Lady Gators exploded in the second, outscoring Edmund Burke (9-8, 0-4) 18-9 for a 25-11 halftime advantage.     BA had a 25-5 lead late in the quarter, using a suffocating trap to force EBA turnovers and hitting the short to mid-range jumpers. But EBA’s Katie Kittrell had six quick points before intermission.
The Lady Spartan senior burned BA for 25 points the last time the two teams met, and BA coach Paul Webb was determined to stop her. Kittrell only had eight points on the night and stayed in foul trouble before being forced to leave midway through the fourth quarter.
Foy began the third with a 12-footer to give Bulloch a 31-11 lead and the Lady Gators kept the 20-point cushion for the remainder of the contest.
Other leading scorers for Bulloch were Heaven Hinton (seven), Kaylee Lanier (six) and Kelcie Jacobs (six). Carly Saxon added eight for Edmund Burke.
Bulloch Academy travels to Savannah Tuesday to take on Region 2-AA foe Memorial Day School.

Gators 81, Spartans 54
Sophomore center Paul Son netted a career-high 16 points and senior forward Darion Carter added 14 as the duo powered Bulloch to a 27-point region victory.
Son and Carter got the best of EBA big man Boyd Lively,  but Spartan bombardiers Jim Sandeford and Jeremy Hayes made life anxious for Chandler Dennard’s bunch in the second quarter.
After Edmund Burke scored its first point of the night in the opening quarter, Bulloch (12-6, 4-1) went on a 10-0 run and then took a 17-9 lead by the end of the first eight minutes.
But in the second, the Gators looked sluggish and clumsy while Sandeford and Hayes kept the Spartans (11-6, 1-4) in the game. A Hayes trey with under two minutes left cut the BA lead to a bucket, 27-25. Hayes led EBA with 17 points while Sandeford added 16 and Lively scored 12.
But the Gators revived themselves to go on a 9-2 run. Junior Chan Newton canned two foul shots after time had expired in the half for a 36-27 lead. The junior had nine points on the night.
Bulloch burst out of the lockerroom in the third and cranked up the offense, outscoring EBA 21-11. Junior point guard Arne Bencker converted a three-point play after the horn for a 57-38 lead. The German native had nine for Bulloch.
The Gators went on an 8-0 lead to start the fourth and climb to a 65-38 advantage.

BA 40, EBA 36
(B-Team boys)
Freshman Zach Altany netted 15 points and classmate Ellis Lane added 11 as the Gators nipped the Spartans in B-team action.
Bulloch (7-4) took a 12-3 lead after the first quarter but EBA stormed back in the second to cut the lead to 22-17 by halftime.
The Gators stretched it back out in the third, 33-24, and held on in the fourth for the win.
Alex Sturkie led EBA with 12 points while Alex Rogers had 10.

BA 31, EBA 18
(B-Team girls)
Eighth grader Taylor Collins scored eight points and sophomore Mary Catherine Spigener added six as the Lady Gators were victorious in their final game of the season.
Bulloch (4-6) took a 9-0 lead in the opening quarter and a 19-8 advantage at halftime.
