A convenience store with a history of being targeted by armed robbers was hit again Sunday, according to Bulloch County Sheriff’s reports.

A black man wearing dark clothing and with his face covered with “some sort of cloth” entered Time Saver #17  at the intersection of Sinkhole Road and Ga. 46 just before 10 p.m. Sunday while the clerk was mopping the floor, said Bulloch county Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Gene McDaniel.

The man “waved a gun and told her to give him all the money,” he said.  “He went around the counter and took all the money, then asked the clerk for her personal money.”

She had no money of her own, and could not open the safe when the offender demanded, he said.

Incident reports stated the man took $130 in cash, the hand set to the store’s cordless phone, and a desk top phone. He also took the store’s surveillance camera  tape, according to reports by  Bulloch County Sheriff’s Sgt. Kenny Thompson.

The man fled on foot after the robbery, McDaniel said. Deputies who responded searched the area and did not locate a suspect nor a suspicious vehicle, he said.

The Time Saver #17 has been robbed several times in the past, he said. “I’ve spent many a night” at the store, investigating armed robberies and break-ins that occurred after the store closed.

The convenience store is located at the corner of Sinkhole Road and Ga. 46, within sight of Smithfield Golf Course, but otherwise in a quiet, secluded area of  the community.

Incident reports did not indicate the clerk was injured during the robbery.
