Monnette Bennett has made it official.
Statesboro’s senior forward on the Lady Devils' basketball team signed a national letter of intent to play basketball for the Georgia Institute of Technology on Wednesday during a ceremony at SHS.
"I've been waiting for this since I was little," said Bennett. "It's exciting."
Bennett had originally planned on attending the University of South Carolina, but changed her mind based on Georgia Tech's coaching staff. She'll head to Atlanta where she hopes to get a degree toward athletic training or physical therapy.
"At first I was like, 'Nah, I don't do Atlanta' because Statesboro it's small and slow," she said. "It's kind of like being tossed out into the world. I think it'll be interesting."
