Man asks for, gets tased

A man got what he asked for recently when he refused to obey Bulloch County Sheriff's deputies' orders to submit to a body search.

Deputies were called to a Mud Road, Brooklet location around 9 p.m. regarding a man threatening to harm himself and was, according to reports, "harming family members." The adult man's mother met deputies at the driveway to inform them her son had firearms and had been firing them before they arrived.

The 32-year-old offender then  "stormed out of the residence in an aggressive manner," said responding officer Bulloch County Sheriff Ben Coney III in reports.

Deputies ordered the man several times to place his hands on a vehicle so he could be checked for weapons, but "he pulled away," he said. Coney pulled his Taser and ordered the offender to stop and place his hands back on the vehicle, but the man yelled "Tase me!"  Coney ordered him to comply once more, but when he refused, he did deploy the Taser, which rendered the offender compliant and he was handcuffed by another deputy, reports stated. The man was taken to the hospital for an evaluation as well as inspection to see whether the Taser caused any injuries, then he was held until a room at another treatment facility was available.
