Statesboro police have arrested three men in connection with an attempted armed robbery early Friday morning.
According to a press release from the Statesboro Police Department, officers responded to Campus Courtyard Apartments at 12:32 a.m. The two male victims stated they heard a knock at their door and when they looked through the peep hole they saw four men dressed in black. The suspects kicked in the door and one pulled out a shotgun. The victims stated they then tussled with the suspect and took the shotgun from him while the other three men fled the scene. The fourth suspect was eventually forced out of the apartment and also fled, according to reports.
One of the fleeing suspects was apprehended by a Georgia Southern police officer and positively identified by the victims as the assailant carrying the shotgun.
Anthony Lavar Grace, 21, Butler Homes, has been charged with criminal attempt to commit armed robbery, burglary, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of cocaine. He is being held without bond in the Bulloch County Jail pending further court action.
Two others were later arrested. Levert Marquiz Omoniji, 18 College Lane, has been charged with criminal attempt to commit armed robbery, burglary, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Dortavious Antowan Grayer, 21, Campus Courtyard, has been charged with criminal attempt to commit armed robbery, aggravated assault, burglary and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
