Meredith Claire Hein and Crawford James Simmons

    Mr. and Mrs. Steven Matthew Hein of Statesboro, Ga., are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Meredith Claire Hein, to Crawford James Simmons. Crawford is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James William Simmons of Statesboro.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Dotson of Statesboro, Patricia Hein of Statesboro and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hein of Talking Rock, Ga. Meredith is a 2008 graduate of Statesboro High School, a 2012 graduate of the University of Georgia and a 2014 graduate of Georgia Southern University. Meredith will begin teaching for the Bulloch County Board of Education in August.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William Simmons of Dublin, Ga., Mr. and Mrs. Steve Schwartz of Alton, Ill., the late Mel Bunting of Alton, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Wolff of Alton and Mrs. Karban Bunting and the late Mr. Dennis Bunting of Statesboro. Crawford is a 2009 graduate of Statesboro High School. He received a baseball scholarship to play for Georgia Tech and was also drafted by the Kansas City Royals in 2009. Crawford is employed by the Kansas City Royals and is currently playing in their minor league baseball system.
    The couple is planning an October wedding in Statesboro.
