Cynthia Lane Armstrong and Henry Trigg Chaplin were united in marriage on March 24, 2007, at the home of the bride. The Rev. Doug Carpenter officiated the 5 p.m. double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lane Armstrong of Statesboro. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vandiver Chaplin of Birmingham, Ala.
The bride, who was escorted to the altar by her father, wore an elegant, corseted, mermaid silhouette in ice blue chiffon. The dress was accented with crystals around the neckline and back. Elegant ruffles swept into a chapel-length train.
The bride wore a string of pearls in her hair which was a gift from the groom. On her right hand she wore her grandmother’s diamond ring. She carried a cascading bouquet of white Casa Blanca lilies, red roses, blue irises, princess roses, freesia and assorted greenery.
Charlotte Elaine Armstrong of Statesboro served as her sister’s maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Sabrina Williams Cole of Smyrna, Ga., Susan Pearson of Richmond, Va., Sarah Chaplin of Birmingham, Ala., sister of the groom; and Aira Shimura of Rome, Ga.
They wore gowns of royal blue silk satin of various styles and carried bouquets of red roses accented with miniature blue flowers.
Vandiver Chaplin of Birmingham, Ala., served as his brother’s best man. The groomsmen were Wade Elliott of Statesboro, Brian Cole of Smyrna and Jake Moore of Rome, Ga.
A program of wedding music was presented by the bride’s uncle, Jim Riley Smith Jr. of Richmond, Va. Classical guitar and flute were played by Ashlee and Chris Mitchell. The bride’s book was attended by Heather Williams Potter of Charlotte, N.C., cousin of the bride.
On the eve of the wedding, the couple was honored with a rehearsal dinner given by the groom’s parents at R.J.’s Steakery and Seafood in Statesboro.
After the ceremony, a reception was held at the bride’s home.
Following a two-week honeymoon in Scotland, the couple now resides in Vista, Calif.
