Marshals investigate arson in Register

Information leading to the arrest and conviction of the party responsible for burning a mobile home in the Register area could be worth up to $10,000.
Bulloch County Sheriff's Investigator Bill Black said state fire officials are offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction regarding an arson case which occurred Tuesday.
He and Deputy Paiboon Grumbar investigated a fire at Cedarwood Acres Mobile Home Park around 2 p.m. Tuesday that State Fire Marshal's Inv. Dan Mealor ruled was arson, he said.
According to two witnesses listed in law enforcement reports, the tenants of the mobile home left about 10 minutes before the fire broke out. Firefighters called to the scene to extinguish the blaze noted a window had been  broken out and said the fire looked as if it had been intentionally set, according to reports.
The tenants returned during the investigation and answered questions from investigators, Grumbar stated.
Black said a reward is offered through the state's HEAT (Help End Arson Today) program, which offers up to $10,000 as a reward for information that helps investigators capture and convict those responsible for setting fires intentionally that destroy property.
The Georgia Arson Control Hotline is 1-800-282-5804, he said. Anyone with information on the Cedarwood Acres fire is asked to call the hotline or Black at (912) 764-8888.
