The polls will be open Saturday for early voters who want to cast their ballots before the primary election May 20.

Bulloch County Deputy Registrar Shontay Jones said residents who wish to vote early will be able to do so at the Bulloch County Courthouse from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

“Every Georgian should have the opportunity to vote in the May 20th Primary Election,” Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp said in a news release. “The good news is that it is easier than ever to vote early. Georgians have the opportunity to vote early this Saturday at locations across Georgia.”

Early voting also takes place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at the courthouse through Friday, May 16. Precincts throughout the county will be open on Tuesday, May 20, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., for the primary election day.

Voters must present a valid photo identification. There are five voting machines available at the courthouse, Jones said.

Jones said more than 400 Bulloch County residents have already taken advantage of early voting this year.

She reminds voters that in the primary election, one must select a ballot by party. Nonpartisan races, such as Bulloch County clerk of court and Bulloch County school board, appear on both party ballots.

In Georgia, the primary runoff election will be July 22. Any race in which no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote will feature the top two vote-getters in the runoff. Nationwide, Nov. 4 is election day, and if necessary, a runoff election in Georgia will be held Dec. 2.
