Mary Katherine Brown and Nathaniel Taylor Kittrell

    Lillian Akers Brown of Statesboro and James Michael and Mariana Brown of Chatsworth, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Katherine Brown of Statesboro, to Nathaniel Taylor Kittrell, son of Charlie Tull Kittrell Jr. and Debbie Harper Kittrell of Waynesboro, Ga.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of William Thomas Akers Sr. and the late Donell Thompson Akers of Statesboro and James Winston and Johannah Brown of Chatsworth. She is the great-granddaughter of the late Don and Lillian Thompson of Statesboro. Mary Katherine is a 2010 honor graduate of Bulloch Academy and will graduate in May from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in education. She is a member of Gamma Pi Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity at UGA. She will teach middle school mathematics in Greenville, S.C.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of Mary Harper and the late Ray Harper of Waynesboro and the late Charlie Tull Sr. and Evelyn Kittrell of Indiana. Nathaniel is a 2010 honor graduate of Edmund Burke Academy and will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Science in business from Bob Jones University, where he is a member of the Omega Society. He is employed as a group sales and marketing manager with Visit Greenville SC.
    The couple plans to wed June 21, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Cecil B. Day Chapel at the State Botanical Gardens in Athens, Ga.
