Abbott-Ooms joins Ben Farmer Realty

            Ben Farmer, president and principal broker of Ben Farmer Realty, announces that Lisa Abbott-Ooms has joined the company's sales team as a licensed sales associate, specializing in residential and commercial sales.

            Lisa has spent the past 15 years serving the public in the emergency medical services field, 13 of those years as a licensed paramedic.

Rodney Fowler joins AgSouth in Statesboro

            Dewey Newton, vice president of AgSouth Farm Credit in Statesboro, recently announced that Rodney Fowler has joined the company as a commercial lending officer and will be working out of the branch office located at 40 South Main Street.

            Fowler has a BS in agriculture from the University of Georgia and is a graduate of the Georgia Agri-Leaders Forum. He serves on the board of directors of the Georgia Crop Production Alliance. He and his wife, Lauren, live in Statesboro and are active members of the community.

            Prior to coming to AgSouth, Fowler spent eight years as a territory manager for Triangle Chemical Company in Statesboro.

            According to Newton, “Rodney brings a wealth of agriculturally-related knowledge and experience to his position as a loan officer, and he will be a great asset to AgSouth in furthering our lending programs to farmers in our territory.”

            Georgia Divisional President Craig Peebles adds that “AgSouth’s primary commitment is serving and providing the credit and financial service needs of farmers, agribusinesses and others investing in the rural communities within our territory. Millen’s April Green earns designation

            April A. Green of Millen, a Modern Woodmen of America representative, has attained the Fraternal Insurance Counsellor (FIC) designation.

            The FIC title is an educational designation that can be earned by career life insurance representatives associated with fraternal insurance societies. Representatives devote more than one year to meet the examination and career development criteria set by the Fraternal Field Managers Association.

            Founded in 1883 as a fraternal benefit society, Modern Woodmen of America celebrates its 125th year of serving members and their communities. The organization offers financial services and fraternal member benefits to individuals and families throughout the United States.

 

Forest group completes sale

            American Forest Management, Inc. (AFM) has announced that it has entered into a purchase and sale agreement with International Paper Company to acquire its forestry consulting business, Sustainable Forest Technologies, Inc. (SFT). The sale is expected to be completed in September.

            The acquisition will combine the knowledge and expertise of two of the leaders in the field of forest management consulting, providing management activities on over 4 million acres of forest land throughout the United States. AFM will have a staff of 220 professionals operating from 41 offices in 15 states. John F. Hurlebaus Jr. is the local district manager.

            In making the announcement, Robert M. Jolley, chief executive officer, noted "American Forest Management has been fortunate in acquiring an organization which employs such a highly motivated and experienced group of individuals. Our combined organization will enable us to expand our capabilities and services in a broader geographic area."

            AFM will continue to serve a variety of clients including private non-industrial timberland owners, timber investment management organizations, forest industry, conservation groups and public land managers. Services include land management, investment analysis, timberland sale and acquisition services, appraisals, growth and yield modeling, environmental assessments, forest inventory and design, acquisition due diligence, forest resource data management, harvest scheduling and analysis and mapping services.
