Haley Joye Pope and Simon Mikell Peed

    Mr. and Mrs. Steve Wildes Pope of Waycross, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Haley Joye of Waycross, to Simon Mikell Peed, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Gates Peed of Statesboro.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Hilda Pope and the late Ray Pope of Waycross and the late Mr. and Mrs. R.F. Stripling (Bill and Martha) of Waycross. Haley graduated from Ware County Magnet School in 2005, has a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology from Georgia Southern University (May 2009) and will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the College of Coastal Georgia in May.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Marvin and Lucy Peed of Statesboro and Mrs. Elizabeth Carr and the late James J. Carr of Augusta, Ga. He is a 2004 graduate of Bulloch Academy and will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Georgia Southern University in May. He is a member of the Georgia Southern chapter of Kappa Sig Fraternity. He is employed as an investigator with the Ogeechee Circuit's Public Defender's Office.
    The couple plans to wed on May 31, 2014, at 6 p.m. at the Central Baptist Church in Waycross.
