Brooklet council votes to keep police department

During a meeting Thursday evening, Brooklet City Council members voted to keep the city's police department.

The city had considered dissolving the department and transferring law enforcement duties to the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office.

Several residents complained, and a Facebook page titled "Support Brooklet Police" was started after word of the proposal by some council members spread.

Look for more details Friday on statesboroherald.com and Saturday in the Statesboro Herald.
