Bakker goes the distance, Elon freezes GSU

ELON, N.C. — Lucas Bakker tossed a two-hit complete game to help Elon to a 1-0 win over the Georgia Southern Eagles in a pitchers' duel at Latham Park.
Elon snapped an eight-game winning streak by GSU.
Sebastian Gomez dropped a ball in front of centerfielder Josh Black to score Casey Jones, who singled and stole second base with two outs, for Elon's (12-6, 1-0) lone run in the sixth inning.
Bakker held Georgia Southern (15-3, 0-1) hitless through 6.2 innings before allowing a single to Chase Griffin in the seventh inning. The Eagles drew two walks to load the bases with two outs, but Bakker struck out Garrett Chapman to end the threat.
The teams will play a doubleheader today beginning at 2 p.m.
Sunday's game was pushed back due to impending weather.
