Bulloch County law enforcement: 100 years later

Pictured in the Feb. 25, 2014, photo ...

On Feb. 25, 1914, Bulloch County Sheriff John Donaldson posed for a photo along with the probate judge, clerk of court and three other bailiffs and deputy clerks to memorialize "The Big Snow," a rare event in Statesboro even then. The photo was taken on the east side of the Bulloch County Courthouse and was later made a part of the State of Georgia's "Vanishing Georgia" photo archive.
On Feb. 25, 2014, Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson asked Probate Judge Lee Deloach, Clerk of Court Charles Sikes and other bailiffs and deputy clerks to take a centennial photo in the same spot — minus the snow. The photo is a symbol of the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office's belief that history and tradition matter, even while striving to provide the most modern law enforcement services possible.
If you have historical photos of law enforcement in Bulloch County, particularly of former sheriffs or deputies, the Sheriff's Office would be pleased to use them on its website and Facebook page. To share your photos, email scans of them to Lt. Chelsea Morgan at
