Lauren Ann Kern and Matthew Richard M...

    Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Kern of Alpharetta, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Lauren Ann Kern of Charleston, S.C., to Matthew Richard McKee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don McKee of Statesboro, Ga.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of James and Mary Frances King of Bedford, Va., and Kenneth Kern and the late Barbara Kern of Greenville, S.C. Lauren is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a double major in political science and international affairs. She has served with the Adventures in Missions in New Orleans. She is employed by the American Cancer Society as a manager of the Hope Lodge in Charleston.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of Malcolm and Shandra Claxton of St. Simons Island, Ga., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Don McKee Sr. of Frazeysburg, Ohio. Matthew is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in business management and has received his Master of Business Administration from Georgia Southern University. He has been employed by Sea Island Bank and currently works in Atlanta with Synovus.
    The couple has planned a spring wedding for April 12, 2014, in Charleston.
