Abortion Recovery Bible Study offered at Choices of the Heart Pregnancy Center

Monica Easter and Terri Mason know the pain, physical and emotional, of recovering from an abortion.
Neither woman knew of the other’s story until, as they believe, God placed them in each other’s path.

“God puts people of like-mindedness together to accomplish his purposes,” Mason said.
Both believe part of God’s purpose in their lives now is to minister to women who have experienced abortions.

“Many women deal with it by putting it in a closet,” Easter said. “Others experience shame and guilt. There’s times of feeling sorrow, grief, a disconnect with others. Healing comes in many layers and is a long process, but God is able to heal and restore. I know God loves me and is still working on me.

“It affects every area of your life,” she said.
As a young teenager, Easter had an abortion and considered a second one. At the age of 16, Eshe had a daughter.

While in the hospital, a woman Easter barely knew visited her, prayed with her and invited her to a Bible study. Later, when she attended the study, she was surprised with a huge baby shower.

“I didn’t know any of those women,” she said. “They were women that just loved God. Because of that, I felt, ‘This God is real.’ My life has not been the same since.”

Easter gave her life to the Lord as a young adult, but it would be years before she saw His plan unfold.

Mason, who also experienced abortions as a teenager, had never revealed them to her own daughters. She said she recently felt led by God to speak about her abortions, but wanted to share the information with her daughters first.

Through circumstances and an event at New Covenant Church, where both Easter and Mason are members, they learned of each other’s experience, and they agreed to meet together for a Bible study on healing from abortion. Mason shared her past with her daughters and sought forgiveness. Easter began her ministry for women healing from abortion and Mason came alongside to help.

The women knew quickly they should open up the study to other women with similar circumstances and another joined them. A new, 10-week study begins on March 10, from 7 to 9 p.m., at Choices of the Heart Pregnancy Center. Interested persons are invited to call Easter at (281) 883-6831.

Easter, the mother of four, and Mason, the mom to two daughters, have a heart for women who are hurting and encourage anyone interested to join them for Bible study. “I couldn’t have done it without God,” says Easter. “I’m amazed at how God restores and blesses and redeems.”
