Eagles pound out two more wins over UMES


    The Georgia Southern baseball team swept a doubleheader over Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday. The Eagles outscored the Hawks 19-4 on the day and won game one 9-3 and game two 10-1.
    GSU improved to 6-1 after the two wins while UMES fell to 0-4.
    Chase Griffin drove in four runs and Josh Wirsu allowed just one hit over five innings to help the Georgia Southern Eagles top UMES 9-3 in game one.
    Griffin helped Georgia Southern rally back from an early 2-0 deficit with a two-run single in the bottom of the first inning and later scored on a home run by Ryan Cleveland.
    Griffin drove in two more runs on his third hit of the day in the eighth inning.
    Stryker Brown hit a grand slam in a six-run first inning as the Georgia Southern Eagles won game two of the doubleheader 10-1.
    Avery Fagan picked up the win after opening the game with two scoreless innings. Fagan (1-0) allowed two hits and struck out three batters.
    Caleb Pressey, Jason Richman and Will Jackson followed with two scoreless frames each.
