➤ Incidents
▲ WOMACK AUTO SALES — The owner said that on Nov. 27, he refunded a customer $1,700 that had been given as a down payment on an automobile. On Wednesday, the owner said he received notice that the customer had filed a disputed transaction with a credit card company, and the owner’s business bank account was charged $1,800. The case was turned over to the Operations Bureau Detective Section supervisor for review.
▲ KALI’S FOOD MART — Officers responded to the store at 9:15 p.m. Thursday in reference to a man with a knife. Officers found a woman, a man and a teenager on West Jones Avenue. The woman said that while they were in the store, an unknown man threatened all three of them with a knife. Bulloch County sheriff’s deputies found the man and the blue pocketknife on West Inman Street. Deputies spoke with the man as he was drinking beer from a can. He was “very intoxicated” with slurred speech and had difficulty standing on his own, according to an incident report. He aggressively approached a deputy and used a “boisterous” tone. Deputies took him to the ground. On the way to jail, the man said he was not worried about the fight “because the charges would be sent to municipal court,” the report says.
▲ COPPER BEECH TOWNHOMES — Someone threw a beer bottle through the kitchen window of a unit at about 12:15 a.m. Friday.
▲ BUTLER STREET — Officers on patrol encountered a man at 1:20 a.m. Friday at the intersection with Johnson Street. The man fled, and suspected broken pieces of crack cocaine were found in the area where he had been. He was detained and later released.

➤ Incidents
▲ SOUTH MAIN STREET — Deputies stopped an SUV at 12:15 p.m. Thursday at Kennedy Street when they saw the driver and a passenger not wearing seat belts. The driver quickly got out of the vehicle and checked on a sleeping toddler in the back seat. Deputies smelled “an extremely strong odor” of fresh marijuana coming from the vehicle, according to an incident report. A check of the occupants’ identification revealed that the driver’s license had been suspended since 2004, and the front-seat passenger had an outstanding warrant from the Newton County Sheriff’s Office. A K-9 deputy gave a positive alert after conducting an air sniff. The occupants denied anything illegal was inside the vehicle. A search revealed a quantity of suspected marijuana behind the center console in a clear plastic bag inside a red cup, along with a black digital scale. A freshly burned marijuana cigarette was found in the ash tray. All three were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
▲ LESTER ROAD — Deputies stopped a car that did not have working brake lights at 5:48 p.m. Thursday. The driver said he did not have a valid license. A K-9 deputy conducted an open air sniff and gave a positive alert. A background check revealed the driver’s license was suspended. A search of the vehicle revealed a quantity of suspected marijuana on both the driver and passenger’s side floorboard. The driver and passenger were arrested.
▲ SOUTH COLLEGE STREET — Deputies stopped a car that appeared to have an improper tag at 1:15 a.m. Friday near Vista Lane. A K-9 deputy conducted an open air sniff and gave a positive alert. A search of the vehicle revealed a quantity of marijuana between the driver and passenger seats. One man was found to have a clear plastic bag with suspected marijuana inside his mouth. All three occupants were arrested.
