    The Bulloch Academy middle school Lady Gators won their region title Tuesday, completing the season with a perfect record after a 32-17 win over Thomas Jefferson.
    Bulloch (11-0) was led by Abby Newton, who scored 11 points.
    Alivia Collins finished with 9 points, and Isabella Gutierezz added 8.

Purvis earns more SoCon honors
    With a 2-1 showing at last weekebnd's FIU Classic, Georgia Southern pitcher Sarah Purvis has earned her second-straight SoCon Pitcher of the Week award. The weekly award is the sixth for Purvis in her career, moving into a tie for fourth in most SoCon Pitcher of the Week honors all-time.
    Purvis went 2-1 last weekend, picking up victories against the defending Big Ten (Wisconsin) and Atlantic Sun (FGCU) Conference Champions. She tossed a shutout against Wisconsin to open the weekend and hand the Badgers their first loss of the season.
    This weekend the Eagles travel to Gainesville, Fla., site of last season's NCAA Tournament trip. Georgia Southern faces Coastal Carolina, Troy, Indiana and undefeated Florida in the Lipton Invitational.

GSU season ticket deadline extended
    After a recent winter storm closed Georgia Southern University for two days, Georgia Southern athletics extended the deadline for renewals and purchases for 2014 Football season tickets until today at 7 p.m.
    Early renewal incentives include a three-year price lock on seats, sixth-month payment plan, invitation to a meet and greet event with Coach Willie Fritz, chance to win tickets to away games at N.C. State, Georgia Tech and Navy and gift of the poster commemorating the Florida win.

Wolfes takes 6th, Eagles finish 7th
    GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Scott Wolfes fired a 3-under-par 67 in the final round of the SunTrust Gator Invitational at the Mark Bostick Golf Club Sunday, and the Eagles tied for seventh in their first tournament of the spring.
    The lone blemish on Wolfes’ card was a bogey on the first hole. The junior birdied hole 7 to finish the front nine even par and birdied the first three holes after the turn. He finished the day with six straight pars to move up from 15th into a tie for sixth in the individual standings.
    Georgia Southern (+34) fell two spots into a tie for seventh with Liberty, six shots behind Mercer (+28) and UAB, which tied for fifth. Arkansas (+9) held onto the top spot, Florida State (+15) moved into second, Vanderbilt (+18) jumped into third and Central Florida (+23) slid into fourth. The field of 14 featured eight teams in the top-50, according to the GolfStat rankings.
